HOW IT WORKS

3 SIMPLE STEPS TO ATTENDING AN EVENT...

 

 

1. FIND OUT ABOUT OUR NEXT EVENING. We host events on select dates around the year, normally once a month. You can find out about our forthcoming events on our events page, or alternatively by liking us on Facebook or Twitter. We post details of the event, as well as menus and recipes too! For further details on any event, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact us by phone or email via our contact page.

 

2. MAKE A RESERVATION! Booking with us is a straitforward affair; all you have to do is enquire about the event you wish to attend, and then call or email through to us. We'll send you a booking form, which will ask you a few basic questions (food allergies, contact details etc.), which you fill in on behalf of you and your party (if applicable). Then simply transfer the amount by BACS, and you're done! We'll send you a booking confirmation and all the details you'll need to make for a wonderful evening.

 

3. ON THE EVENING ITSELF... we will have sent you the address, and directions on how to find us. One of the main reasons we do not publicise our address is that we are a private dinner club, and in true clandestine fashion we only reveal the exact location after booking.

We are based in a beautiful famhouse in between Malton and Scarbrough. When the weather is warm, we serve dinner in a beautiful open courtyard with view of the Yorkshire Wolds. When the weather turns colder, reception rooms with open fires and white linen tables await. When all attendees are present, we invite you to take your seats! Aaaaaaand relax... Dinner is served!

THE MAIN EVENT

 

Upon arrival at our location, you will be greeted with a warm welcome in true Yorkshire fashion! We will do everything we can to ensure you have a wonderful evening. If there is anything you need or wish for, please do not hesitate to ask. We will take your coats and welcome you into our beautiful farmhouse setting, where you will be shown into a reception room with the other guests. Whether you have come as a couple, group or individual, we encourage our guests to mingle and get to know one another; after all, meeting new people is one of the key features of any supper club! If you have brought wine (our events are BYO) then we will offer to chill/decant it for you.

 

Canapés or amuse bouches will be served in by our waiting staff in the reception rooms. We like to be inventive with our amuse bouche, and they are often a good conversation starter between guests. 

 

You will then be asked through to the dining room. If you have booked as a party, we will try and accomodate you all on one table. We normally serve up 25 guests, so please be open to flexible seating arrangements. 

 

The menu will have been sent out to you beforehand, but another copy will be provided with any last minute changes or additions to the courses. Dinner tends to be a 4 or 5 course affair, with coffee and mints served at the end. A typical menu would be as follows:- (Taken from Leaping Hare Spring, April 2014)

 

 

Amuse Bouche 

Starter
Pig and Pea Salad with crackling, 
seared scallop, pea shoots and watercress.

Entree
Cerviché of wild trout, 
with cucumber granita and fennel.

Main
Roasted wood pidgeon, smoked-butter pomme purée, 
puy lentils and spring greens.

Palate Clenser
Minted Pineapple with virgin mojito shot

Dessert
Assiette of Yorkshire Rhubarb,including rhubarb posset, 
sherbet and sorbet, tuile biscuit.

 

 

 

At the end of dinner, you are invited to relax in one of the lounge rooms. Around 11pm we start to wrap-up proceedings, although this varies of course. We can organise taxis for you as required, and often send you on your way with a little gift as a momento of your evening. If you wish to provide a tip for your waitress, the is provision to do so before you leave; although not expected, our staff always appreciate it.
